Soe Thane
Minister U Soe Thane is the coordinating minister for economic development at the ministry of president office, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
He graduated from the Defense Services Academy(D.S.A) in 1969 and got the master degree in 1998. He rose up from second lieutenant to Vice-Admiral in his thirty-five years military career, serving in Navy of Myanmar Armed Forces.
He joined the cabinet as Minister for Industry in 2008 after retiring from Navy. After the elections of 2010, he was elected and re-appointed as the Minister of Industry in the current government. He was appointed as Minister for President Office in 2012 and is now in charge of coordinating national economic development in Myanmar.
Mr Thane founded the SME Bank and SME Center in Myanmar. He is also former Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission. In addition, he has been working as Anti-corruption Committee Member and Chairman of Political Prisoners Scrutinizing Committee. He is also working as a member of Peace Process with Ethnic Nationals.
He is keenly interested in renewable energy and GEGG (Green Economy, Green Growth).
